

Monkfish
Scientific Name: Lophius
Monkfish are a variety of lophiid anglerfish primarily found in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean and Northwestern Pacific Ocean. The monkfish is a bottom-dwelling predator that relies on stealthy camouflage & ambush tactics to attack its prey as it swims by. This species of fish can flourish in a wide range of water temperatures and can be found at depths of up to 3,000 ft.
This fish has been a longstanding cuisine staple in European culinary arts that has now made its way onto menus across the globe due to its unique firm, white meat that is lobster-like both in flavor and texture.
