Pollock is a schooling fish that is widely dispersed throughout the North Pacific Ocean, with the highest population concentration being in the eastern Bering Sea. Pollock is a member of the cod family, and they can grow up to 3 ft in length and weigh as much as 3 lbs. Relativity speaking, pollock have short lifespans, approximately 12 years.

They tend to swim in large schools and are known to dwell in ocean depths of up to 3,300 ft. Younger pollock seem to prefer more mid-water ocean depths, whereas older pollock prefer on or near ocean floor depths.

Pollock is a fish that offers a mild, delicate flavor. Pollock tends to have a higher oil content than cod, so in comparison, pollock is more flavorful than cod. When cooked, this fish has white, firm, flaky flesh that is lean.
